The caring professionals of NOCAC meet around the dining room table within the NOCAC cottage.

Louisiana law requires every parish to have a multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach for the investigation of child abuse. On the our team are NOPD child abuse detectives, New Orleans assistant district attorneys, CARE Center forensic pediatricians, New Orleans District Attorney victim assistance coordinators, mental health counselors, forensic interviewers, and the NOCAC staff. The team meets bi-weekly to coordinate intervention services, and our primary focus is in the best interest of the child by providing assistance and protection. The MDT constantly strives to reduce further trauma by limiting the number of interviews needed and by assuring child safety. Together, the team works toward an acceptable, safe, and legally sound outcome for each family.

The New Orleans Child Advocacy Center Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) includes:

  • Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Detectives, New Orleans Police Department
  • Child Protection Investigators, Department of Children and Family Services
  • Assistant District Attorneys, New Orleans District Attorneys Office
  • Mental Health Therapist, Metropolitan Center For Women and Children
  • Expert forensic pediatricians, Audrey Hepburn CARE Center
  • The NOCAC staff and Trained Forensic Interviewers
