Raise Awareness for Child Abuse—Wear a Blue Ribbon.

Grandmother Bonnie Finney hung a blue ribbon on her car antenna in memory of Michael Wayne Dickinson.  Her grandson’s abused body was found in Dismal Swamp Canal, Virginia in March 1989.

Since then, thousands of ribbons have been displayed in numerous ways to call attention to the tens of thousands of abused children.

We ask you to wear or display blue ribbons throughout the month of April to promote awareness of child abuse.  Tell everyone about the ribbon’s significance to bring awareness and aid to abused children everywhere.

If you are aware of abuse or maltreatment in your community, report it to one of the following agencies:

DCFS Hotline: 855-4LA-KIDS

Emergency: 911

NOPD Child Abuse: (504) 658-5267
